X-Men: Messiah Complex to set a new standard for X-books

Heroes Con took place recently, and Newsarama were on the spot, interviewing several different comic book teams to get the lowdown on upcoming projects and plans. One of these planned projects was Marvel Comics's X-Men: Messiah Complex. The X-over is like a classic X-Men story that spans thirteen chapters across the various X-titles. Think X-cutioners's Song or one of the older storylines.

What interests me though, is the following exchange between Newsarama and Editor Nick Lowe:

NRAMA: What can you tell us about the story at this point, without giving too much away?

NL: Something happens in Chapter One that changes everything. It stratifies the world of the X-Men in a clear way. It unifies the heroes in a way they haven’t been for years, and all under Scott Summers. Cyclops steps up huge in this event and will get people talking.

NRAMA: Of course, we have to ask, what can you tell readers about what this will do to the X-corner of things coming out the other end. Is this of the “things will never be the same” type deals?

NL: It is. There will be a significant and final shift in the status quo and even with how people look at mutants. Also, coming out of the event, readers will have a more clear idea of what the X-Men are and what every book means. Gone will be the days where readers will be confused what book is which and what the difference is.

Sorting out the X-Men titles and giving each one a purpose seems like an excellent plan to me. The only X-book I've been reading of late is Astonishing X-Men because the others simply aren't up to scratch in my opinion.

Also, judging by the quote above, could Cyclops be the one with a "messiah complex"? It certainly would be interesting to see Scott step up to the plate and take all of mutantkind under his wing. Question is, would he be more like a Professor X or a Magneto? Or both?
