Square party on!

It begins! This is an extremely important event for the Japanese gaming biz since, let's face it; Capcom isn't going be putting out anything mindblowing for a good, long time and the other, smaller Japanese devs have been extremely secretive so far.

A chance to finally see what Square's had up their sleeve all this while is most welcome. I, like everyone else, have high hopes for FFXIII announcements. Oh, and The Last Remnant. They just have to show off more of that. Kotaku, IGN, Gamespot and 1UP will all be reporting from the event, so be sure to give them all a look frequently today.

I'm off to finally watch Spider-Man 3. I'll do a nice compilation of all the news along with thoughts when I get back for those of you too lazy to read through a hojillion blog posts. See you soon!

[Update: Due to Square's extremely secretive nature, the press was forbidden from showing off any videos from the event, including trailers. The only major announcement made was regarding a Kingdom Hearts announcement at the next TGS. Apart from that, the major playable titles at the event were as follows:

Dragon Quest Swords: IGN, Gamespot

FF Tactics A2: IGN, Gamespot

FF Chronicles: Ring of Fates: IGN, Gamespot]
