Preview - Left 4 Dead

1up as a new preview and video (above) on Left 4 Dead and god damn it if zombie 4 player Co-op isn't finally coming to the PC and 360 courtesy of Turtle Rock Studios. The video has plenty of in game footage but my highlights are the AI procedural control of level population to ensure a unique experience, the fact you can play as zombies, the pretty neat game experience Kathleen Sanders covers at the end of the vid and of course the Zombies running like the steak and shrimp buffet is about to close.

This game is really starting to get me rabid in all the right ways and I'll certainly be hitting up Steam towards the end of the year to try this out first hand.

Zombies are the new ninja's I tell you. These ones seems a bit overly active. It could be a nice game, I rather had seen a third person view and zombies that don't run around like there need to catch a bus but that's just me.

In other Zombie news The Typing of Dead II is in the making, this time with real guns.

Heh, that's one area where we differ significantly. I can't stand anything with zombies unless it's Resident Evil 4!

That said, you definitely need to check out Clive Barker's Undying for an awesome horror game experience.

That’s because there are no zombies in RE4. I thought the difference between zombies and those Los Ganados dudes was that the Los Ganados are able to run and somewhat got a mind of there own. With this game that line is blurred, zombies aren’t suppose to run.

I’ll stop here discussing what and what not is a zombie goes a bit to far for me. LOL

I think if they'd stuck to a traditional shuffler zombie then the game would have been far too easy. While not traditional in their approach I an appreciate the artistic license if it adds something other than a cheap scare.

Have given it some thought though, I do wonder how the actual zombie AI functions. Are you going to be able to make diversions to draw zombies away. I'd like to see it take place on more than just the ground too. A level where you need to jump from roof to roof while zombies burst through doors would be great.

Now if we can port such a game to the Wii we can then add a classic hammer the wood to the window subgame!
