Nintendo DS using triangulation?

Engadget recently received a picture from what they claim is a "highly reliable source" that shows the DS using triangulation for geopositioning data. If the info is legit, it means future DS games could potentially make use of location-based data without requiring a GPS add-on. As if the PSP didn't have enough competition, it looks like the DS is all set to make some headway in the GPS department, too. If this is legit, that is.

I do have a ton of theories on what Nintendo's next iteration of the DS will include but this wasn't one of them. I meant to do an article on this a long time ago, but seeing as how I keep thinking up new features they could potentially add, I've decided to hold it off until after GDC.
