Looking back at Death Note

A couple of weeks back, I recommended the Death Note manga/anime to my good friend, Terracannon876 (an alias he uses to escape his numerous gay internet stalkers). For the next two weeks, Terra disappeared completely from the face of the planet. I didn't see him on MSN, IRC or even on the 4chan boards where he likes to hang out in the /b/ section, staring at pictures of furries from the computer lab at school.

Anyway, as it turns out, Terra was busy watching Death Note. However, this had absolutely nothing to do with his disappearance whatsoever. No. In fact, his two week disappearance seems to be more or less school-related, seeing as how he read 12 volumes of the manga and watched 23 episodes of the anime all in a single day.

Needless to say, his brain is now damaged beyond recognition from trying to follow the constant second-guessing and solipsistic thinking of Death Note's protagonists, Light and L. Finding himself suffering from a desperate need to vent, he's done a pretty long and insightful post about the series and his thoughts on his Live Journal blog, Spirit Chronicles. This is honestly one of the best Death Note write-ups I've seen, and if you've read the series completely, I would recommend checking it out.

It makes you think a lot about aspects of the show that you hadn't considered before. The bastard kept me awake till 8 AM this morning on IRC, analyzing every single aspect of the series, right down to the possibility of L suffering from Asperger's Syndrome.
