Devil May Cry 4 goes multiplatform!

Well, so much for this.

You know, I'm beginning to lose respect for Capcom. Go ahead, you bastards ... turn all your franchises into multiplatform, electronic whores, why don't you? I can see you have an uncanny sense of "balancing" out support for next-gen systems.

Seriously, are you trying to give people a reason to not buy PS3s? I understand that Capcom is desperately trying to appeal to Western gamers, but for God's sake, there are other ways to do it!

The game, as reported by Kotaku, is going to be making its way over to the 360 as well as the PC.

Don't mind me ... I'm just really pissed about this. In my opinion, exclusive titles lose their "special" feel when you turn them into what is so obviously an attempt to squeeze every last bit of money from your consumers.

I don't exactly see how this is an attempt to squeeze every last bit of money from your consumers. Buying a PS3 and an xbox360 is more costly. I wouldn't even mind if games would become standardized. Consumer electronics companies build consoles and software companies publish it on one format. That would be better for everyone except for the people who own the system brand.

Well, if this was any other company, I wouldn't care half as much. Just that it's pretty obvious that this is one of Capcom's attempts to appeal to a Western audience.

It's pretty sad how they're not willing to wait for the PS3 to pick up. For all their promises to support the system, it seems that Capcom's just interested in doing what's good for them, not good for the industry.

I think they need a better sense of balance, to be honest. That's something I respect about Square Enix ... I think they realize the importance of spreading out their support a bit more evenly this time around. With Capcom, it's just a question of who's paying them the most money.

I mean, are we hearing news of them putting Lost Planet on the PS3? Of course not. Because Microsoft's probably stuffed their ears with gold to make sure they can't port the franchise. Resident Evil 5 was already multiplatform to begin with, and now DMC is, too?

It's like they're saying, "Don't buy a PS3!"

I think its worth remembering that Sony won all this support off the back of Nintendo being piss poor partner to work with.

Given the terrible PR surrounding the PS3, the less than spectacular sales and the demands of making the games, I'm not surprised these things are happening.

Anyone who says the PS3 isn't the clear leader in hardware and performance is clearly in denial. However its also pretty clear that Sony is firmly in last place where it comes to figuring in what its customers and more importantly its developers want.

If I was capcom and looking at a 2-3million install base. I'd be looking for a quick out too. And really you can't expect them to sell Sony's system for them, Sony got that free ride with the PS2 but it seems the PS3 isn't going to be so fortunate.
